If you have regained weight after having gastric bypass surgery or a vertical sleeve gastrectomy, you are not alone. In fact, most weight loss surgery patients regain some weight after 18 months or so. However, if you have gained back too much weight and you have gotten back to an unhealthy Body Mass Index (BMI), it may be time to think about revision bariatric surgery like the ROSE Procedure.
Get a Second Chance with ROSE Revision Bariatric Surgery
The most common reason for regaining weight after bariatric surgery is that the stomach pouch or the stomach outlet (stoma) have stretched over time. Usually, this is because you did not stick to your portion control plan. Don’t worry. We understand that these things happen. Making a serious, permanent change in your lifestyle is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. Just because it didn’t work out the first time doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a second chance.
We know it can be frustrating to feel like you’ve finally succeeded in overcoming obesity with weight loss surgery, only to find yourself gaining weight again. You may be discouraged or feel that you don’t deserve the future you planned for yourself after your first bariatric surgery, but don’t give up hope. Our board-certified bariatric surgeon Dr. Shyam Dahiya can help you get your life back on track with ROSE revision bariatric surgery.
How the ROSE Procedure Works
The ROSE Procedure is a safe, non-invasive procedure that reverses stretching of the stomach pouch after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery or vertical sleeve gastrectomy. ROSE stands for Restorative Obesity Surgery, Endolumenal. Endolumenal literally means “lit from the inside,” because the light and the ROSE device Dr. Dahiya uses are mounted on an endoscope—a surgical tool used to access the stomach through the mouth without surgical incisions.
The ROSE device itself is a highly specialized, FDA-approved surgical instrument that Dr. Dahiya uses to reduce the size of your stomach pouch by creating folds in the stomach tissue and suturing them together. Using the ROSE device, Dr. Dahiya can restore your stomach pouch and the size of the stoma (stomach opening) to the size it was after your bariatric surgery.
Because ROSE is an outpatient procedure done without incisions, the recovery time for ROSE revision bariatric surgery is minimal. In fact, you will most likely be able to return to your job the very next day. Remember, though, that everyone’s body is unique and you may need extra time if your body heals slowly.
To help your body adjust to the ROSE Procedure and help the folds seal themselves together, you will be on a liquid diet for at least a week after your ROSE Procedure. Depending on your progress, you will then progress to soft, then solid foods, much like after your first bariatric surgery.

Our family has been with Shyam Dahiya Medical Group since it's started and we cannot express our gratitude enough to all medical and non-medical staff of the clinic. Everyone is always happy to serve and always goes beyond and above especially when dealing with elderly members of our family. The efficiency of the doctors always save us trouble when it comes to proper care for my dad and grandmother. The professionalism of all its non-medical staff is way beyond our expectations and always make us want to come back. Thank you all for your service and Kudos for Shyam Dahiya MD family.
Just saw Dr. Shyam Dahiya at his Lakewood office today for my Grandmothers' follow up visit after her surgery. I assumed that he would just tell us the basis of the results, but I was so impressed with the service and how he explained in detail the result of her exams. We are all very happy with the service we got from this office
